Snow Pack Going Down
Posted on Jun 03/2014
Spent a gorgeous weekend on the ocean from Prince Rupert. Chinook fishing is slow but a few are being caught. Got our fill of crab.
Skeena River
The Skeena river is high and muddy no fishing for a while still. The recent warm sunny weather has brought lots of snow down from the mountains and that is good news. If all holds mid June should be some fabulous Spring Salmon fishing conditions.
Kalum River
The Kalum was much greener than I expected it to be but looking at the lack of boats at the launch I would suggest no one is out checking that out.
Copper River
Muddy as expected for this time of the year.
Kitimat River
Chinooks are in the system. The river is in marginably fishable state.
Bulkley River
The Bulkley river is in much the same shape as the Skeena, high and muddy. Although I have noticed the odd stream flowing in clear. Bulkley does not open until June 15th but should be in decent fishing shape by then if the weather holds.
Lakes
Lake fishing continues to be good. Chironomids are still doing well and keep your eye open for various specific hatches in the early evening in particular you can sneak in some dry fly action
get out & play today!!
